Red Bull Air Race, Abu Dhabi, 8th & 11th Apr'08
Friday 11th
April saw the actual Red Bull Air Race. The weather was much better, still
some wind, much better visibility and the temperature got to 35c. (Nice) 12
pilots flew.
First up were the 4 slowest qualifiers, the "Point 1" round and they
were competing for 9th place, 1 world championship point.

No99 Michael Goulian (USA) rounding the palace to start the racing, in the "1 point round"..

Michael finished 11th with his lap 1m 13.19sec (1 penalty)
No45 Glen Dell (RSA) flies another Edge 540. Running in to the finish, in the "1 point round"
Glen crosses the line and finished 12th (of 12) with a lap of 1m 18.02sec (1 penalty)
No27 Nicolas Ivanoff (FRA) starts his lap in his Extra 300SR.. (one of two competing)
and celebrates after finishing..! He finishes 9th with his clean lap of 1m 07.33sec and takes 1 point
No18 Sergy Rakhmanin (RUS) 4th contender in another Edge 540..
..rounding pylon 2 in the first chicane..
..and about to complete his lap. He finished 10th with a lap time of 1m 12.02 secs.
Next up were the "Super 8". These were the 8 fastest qualifiers, fastest flying last. This decides points for 5th to 8th.
No9 Nigel Lamb (GBR) in his.. MX2..! The only one in the race..!
Nigel passes end of pylon 3. He Finished 8th, 2 points, with a clean lap time of 1m 09.67 secs
No36 Alejandro Maclean (ESP)
runs in to start his lap.. in an Edge 540..
..pulling up for the cuban 8 after pylon 5..
..then head on after pylon 12. He finished 6th with his clean lap completed in 1m08.32secs
No19 Steve Jones (GBR) in another Edge 540 at 364.70KPH starts his lap..
..and rounding chicane pylon 9. Steve finished 7th, with his 1 penalty, time of 1m 08.51secs.
No28 Hannes Arch (AUT) starts his lap in (yup) an Edge 540..!
